With the launch of the iPad and like devices seemingly heralding the death of book design as we know it, I’ve compiled a list of some of the best covers of 2010 (so far).

As you scroll through these examples, keep in mind the original function of book covers—protecting the fragile interiors. Nowadays, covers are mini-posters meant to distinguish one book from a sea of hundreds at your local chain mega-store.
